Anime NYC 2026 ran August 20–23 at the Javits Center in Hudson Yards — billed as the largest anime convention on the East Coast, which isn't an exaggeration given the scale of what gets premiered there every year.

HIDIVE used its exhibition slot to run its entire Fall 2026 simulcast lineup in front of a live crowd before any of it actually aired: a world dub premiere of the summer drama The World Is Dancing, the world premiere of an original slice-of-life anime based on the Railway Girls franchise (Tetsuryo! Meet with Tetsudou Musume), and the North American premiere of the fall fantasy-action series Nia Liston: The Merciless Maiden.

The bigger draw of the weekend was Reincarnated as a Sword Season 2's North American premiere, paired with a Q&A featuring director Shinji Ishihira and producers Yosuke Shimada and Genta Ozaki. That's a notable choice for a platform HIDIVE's size — building convention presence specifically around a licensed sequel and direct staff access, rather than leaning on catalog breadth the way a Crunchyroll-scale competitor can.

Conventions like this are where a mid-tier platform's actual strategy becomes visible in a way a press release doesn't show. HIDIVE isn't trying to out-license the bigger streamers — it's betting that fans will show up in person, in large numbers, for the specific shows it picked up and is willing to fly staff out to support.
