As of this writing, there is no confirmed production on Vinland Saga Season 3 — not a leak, not a delay, just nothing officially announced by a studio.
Here's where the rumors actually started: a January 2025 interview with creator Makoto Yukimura in the French newspaper Le Monde, in which he reportedly said production had already begun. That single comment is the entire foundation the 'Season 3 is confirmed' chatter has been built on for well over a year now.
Here's the complication almost nobody repeats alongside it: in a more recent statement from January 2026, Yukimura said he hadn't actually received any updates from the producers since that interview, and that he'd learned about the ongoing production rumors the same way fans had — through social media. That's about as direct a signal as a creator can give that 'confirmed' was premature the first time around.
If and when a Season 3 does happen, the likely material is the Eastern Expedition arc — roughly manga chapters 100 through 166 — introducing new characters Hild, Garm, and Gudrid. Even in the unconfirmed version of this plan, how the story would handle Thorfinn specifically remains an open question.
The honest bottom line: the person best positioned to know whether Season 3 is real says he doesn't have confirmation either. Treat it as plausible, not imminent, until an actual studio makes an announcement.
