Blue Lock Is Getting a Season 3 and Its First Live-Action Movie — Timed to the World Cup
Neo Egoist League is coming to the anime, and a separate live-action film lands in Japanese theaters the same summer the actual World Cup kicks off. That's not a coincidence.

Blue Lock Season 3 was confirmed at BLUELOCK EGOIST FESTA 2025, with creator Muneyuki Kaneshiro reacting on the spot with 'Season 3 is officially confirmed!!!' and artist Yusuke Nomura adding that the team is 'finally bringing the Neo Egoist League to life on screen.' The new season will adapt the Neo Egoist League arc and is already stated to be in production, though a studio and premiere date haven't been announced yet.
The bigger surprise announced alongside it: Blue Lock's first-ever live-action film, produced by CREDEUS (the studio behind the Kingdom and Golden Kamuy live-action film series), executive produced by CK Works, and distributed by Toho. It's set for a nationwide Japanese theatrical release in Summer 2026 — deliberately timed to coincide with the actual men's World Cup.
That timing isn't subtle, and it isn't supposed to be. Blue Lock's entire premise is built on Japan's obsession with actually winning a World Cup instead of just qualifying for one; releasing a live-action tie-in during the real tournament is about as direct a piece of marketing alignment as a sports franchise can pull off.
The franchise has dabbled in other adaptations before — Blue Lock has already had stage play productions — but this is its first jump into live-action film, a format gamble most shounen sports manga don't attempt until well after the anime has already proven the audience exists.
For now, what's locked in is the arc and the movie's release window. The anime's actual studio, cast, and premiere date are still open questions worth checking back on once more comes out of the official site and the franchise's X account.
